Green With Lakehouse Envy

I definitely have a case of lakehouse envy for this little green charmer! Sitting lakeside, no detail in this small cottage renovation was overlooked.  The goal of the builder was to renovate the original house with as many re-used materials and minimal site impact as possible. They salvaged framing lumber, T&G boards and floors, windows, doors and a few period keepsakes.

“We tried to use as much of the original materials as possible,” Architect Jeremy Bonin explains. “We turned casement windows on their sides, reframed and regrouped others. Even the woodstove is a “found” item for this little cottage.

Individual lockers allow everyone to have their own space for hanging jackets, backpacks, and for shoe storage.  A sleeping loft for the kids was created and the window was reused from another section of the cabin.

A natural stone walkway leading from the cottage to the lake is the icing on the cake.

It’s perfect…
